Graduate Checklist: Register for Classes

 
Curriculum Requirements and Academic Plan Roadmaps
  • MBA: Map Your Courses
    1. Review your Curriculum
    • MGT 403: Quantitative Methods (business calculus, linear algebra, statistics) is a prerequisite to the MBA program. Students can meet this requirement by completing two inexpensive online math courses or take MGT 403 in the first quarter of the program. The online math course (Knewton Alta) MUST be completed (100% mastery) prior to your first quarter at AGSM, or you will need to take MGT 403 during the first quarter.
      • Find out more about the Knewton Alta learning platform by watching the following videos:
      • Completing Knewton Alta will allow you to waive MGT 403 and move directly into your core courses.
      • Signing up through this service will prove to be a significant cost savings for you.
      • To complete Knewton Alta successfully, you must achieve 100% mastery in BOTH courses. All students, that have achieved 100% mastery, will have a permit added to their account, and will be notified that they can register in the subsequent courses (MGT 201 and MGT 203) AFTER the deadline.
      • To start Knewton Alta use the following links to complete the modules.  Please note that these courses are separate, and you will need to sign up for each course:

    • Curriculum requirements:  9 core courses, 9 elective courses, 1 professional development course (MGT 402), 1 internship course (MGT298i), and a capstone course (MGT 238).
    1. Fill in your Academic Plan
      • If you chose to complete MGT 403: Quantitative Methods by taking the Knewton Alta course, use this plan: MBA plan with Knewton Alta
      • If you will choose to take MGT 403 Quantitative Methods at AGSM, use this plan: MBA plan with MGT 403

  • PMBA: Map Your Courses
    1. Review your Curriculum

  • MFin: Map Your Courses

      • Curriculum requirements: 8 core courses, 2 restrictive elective courses, 2 elective courses

  • MPAc: Map Your Courses
    1. Review your Curriculum
      • If you are an MPAc Track 1, required courses include:
        - 5 core courses
        - 7 elective courses
      • If you are an MPAc Track 2, required courses include: 
        - MGT 400A: Financial Accounting Principles and Practices (offered during Summer Session B: July 28 - August 30, online, twice a week. Specific days and times TBD.)
        - MGT 400E: Auditing and Assurance (must be taken during your first quarter)
        - 5 core courses
        - 7 elective courses

  • MSBA: Map Your Courses
    1. Review your Curriculum
      •  Required courses:  4 core classes, 4 background dependent core classes, 3 career track elective courses, and 2 capstone courses 
    2.  Fill in your Academic Plan
      • MSBA Business Track Academic Plan (students coming from a statistics undergraduate degree program)
      • MSBA Statistics Track Academic Plan (for students coming from business and other STEM-related undergraduate degree programs)

Holds on Your Account
  • Review Your Holds

    Log in to R’Web to view any holds you may have, their description, and who to contact to resolve the hold. You will receive an information box when you first log into R’Web and then you can revisit your active holds by selecting the “Holds” icon:

  • Understand Reasons for Holds

    Holds on your account can occur for many reasons including failure to submit final, official academic transcripts, failure to comply with vaccination and immunization requirements, or failure to complete required training courses for students. It is very important to ensure that all holds on your account are removed before registration opens in August so that you will be able to register for your classes on time.

    Please note that Academic Advisors can not remove required training, health/vaccination, admissions, business, or documents holds. You must work with the office that placed the hold.

Class Registration on R’Web
  • Find Out When Registration Opens

    For graduate students, registration begins on the first day registration opens. Check the Academic
    Calendar     at registrar.ucr.edu/calendar to see when registration opens. Under the Registration drop-
    down menu, look in the “Readmitted and new graduate students register” row, and then use the dates
    listed in the Fall column.

    If you miss the initial registration period, please use the “Makeup enrollment and add/drop” dates
    found in the Academic Calendar at registrar.ucr.edu/calendar. Under the Registration drop-down menu,
    look in the “Makeup enrollment and add/drop” row, and then use the “all students” dates listed in the
    Fall column.
