  • About AGSM Advising and Student Services

    Your Advising and Student Services team is here to support your academic journey. You will have an advisor that will be there to help you know what classes to take, how to navigate the UCR system, and to answer any questions you have impacting your academic success. You can book individual appointments, attend drop-in advising, access group advising, and attend fun events with AGSM Advising and Student Services. In addition, all incoming students will have a Peer Mentor assigned by the first week of July. These peers are here to help you navigate any questions and concerns as you prepare for your program throughout summer.

  • WHAT is Advising?

    We are here to support you and make sure that you have the information and resources you need to accomplish your career and academic goals.  Please make an appointment to see us if you have any questions or concerns about:

    • Class Registration
    • Academic Challenges
    • Withdrawals or Leaves of Absence
    • Questions about accessing Campus Resources
    • Anything impacting your academic progress at UCR!
    • Career exploration

  • HOW Can I Prepare for an Advising Session?
    • Know your Student ID number.
    • Write down the questions you would like answered.
    • Make an Appointment.
      • We recommend that you ask short questions during drop-in hours and schedule longer appointments for more complex questions. 
    • Take notes during the session to remember important answers and information.
    • If you want your resume reviewed, please send it in advance to your career counselor in Word format before your career advising appointment.

    The Advising Office assigns advisors alphabetically by last name (surname). We encourage you to attend Business Quickstart & BusinessReady to make sure you know the classes to register for in your first quarter and to answer any questions.

  • Academic Resources

    Whether you are entering your program directly from your undergraduate degree or you have been investing in your career, UCR offers robust student support and academic resources. 
     

    • GradSuccess: For Students that want to maintain great grades, those who are struggling with new concepts, and any student in between! Grad Success has workshops, one-one support, and recorded sessions that you can review at your leisure. 
    • Accommodations: For students with documented permanent and temporary disabilities. 
    • Case Management: This office works with students to coordinate between offices on campus and ensure that students are receiving support they need. If you are struggling with unexpected challenges, case management will work with you to make sure you have access to the resources you need.
    • Office of the Ombuds:  The Ombuds Office is a confidential, impartial, informal and independent resource that assists UCR community members, including students, faculty and staff, in addressing or resolving a dispute or ongoing conflict.
  • Wellness Resources

    As a Graduate student, knowing how to incorporate well-being into your routine is important. UCR provides robust wellness resources whether you live on-campus or off-campus. 

      • Basic Needs and R’Pantry: College can be a stressful time to balance school, work, relationships and more. Some things students shouldn’t have to worry about are when and how they are going to eat. UCR has compiled campus and community resources so students can stay well-fed and healthy.
      • Case Management: Case managers are the path-clearers and problem-solvers for UCR students dealing with mental health, academic, relationship, food insecurity, and other stressful crises. By providing resources, linkage, education, and expertise, they empower students to break down barriers, clarify needs and navigate complex processes to get back on track to reach their goals. 
      • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): If you are interested in seeking support from a therapist, you can access FREE, confidential services at UCR's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) office. These services are not listed on your academic transcript or file. 
      • Therapy Assistance Online (TAO): TAO is confidential, convenient, and controlled by you. TAO is an online library of engaging interactive resources to learn life skills and feel better now.
      • Student Health Services (SHS): Student Health Services provides affordable, convenient, confidential, and high-quality medical care to UCR students. Facilities includes a primary care clinic, in-house medical lab, pharmacy, and X-ray services. Specialty clinics include women's health, travel, dental, and psychiatric services.
      • The Well: The Well provides education, training, resources, and programming for students in a variety of health and wellness topic areas, through a network of peer educators, mentors, and professional staff.
      • General Student Resources: There are numerous resources for students on the UCR campus to connect with others, navigate college life, and engage fully in the community.
  • Crisis Resources

    While UCR and AGSM always hope that students experience a thriving, healthy tenure at the university, we recognize that emergencies, trauma, and crises do occur for our students. If you are experiencing a current, life threatening emergency please contact 9-1-1. If you need resources to cope with any other difficulties, we hope these resources will help:

      • Help@UCR: This is a list of comprehensive resources for any Highlander experiencing difficulties. 
      • Campus Advocacy Resources & Education (CARE): CARE is an intervention and prevention support program committed to ending sexual violence at UC Riverside. It provides direct advocacy, resources and prevention educational programming related to issues of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking to students, staff, faculty, and UCR affiliates.
