Students: Get Involved
Ways for Students to Engage
CDC Student Advisory Council
The CDC Student Advisory Council is a volunteer committee of graduate business students who advise, support and participate in career development activities facilitated by the CDC. Participants work closely with CDC staff, meet with Employer Advisory Board members, represent the student body in select interactions with employers and serve as a liaison between the CDC and the AGSM student population.
Applications are made available each October, and selected students are required to make a 9-month commitment to the CDC Student Advisory Council.
National MBA Career Conferences
Graduate business students seeking internships and full-time jobs are encouraged to attend one or more National MBA Career Conference if their schedule and budget permits. These conferences take place in different cities each year and allow students unparalleled access to hundreds of top employers, who in most cases do not recruit on campus at UCR.
Companies participate in national MBA career conferences specifically to recruit, interview and hire graduate business students. Many interviews are conducted on-site, and companies have been known to extend job offers on the spot.
While these national conferences target specific diversity groups, attendance is not limited to individuals who identify with those groups. Any student can (and should) participate. The Career Development Center has a limited budget to subsidize the cost of conference registration for up to 20 AGSM students (this number may fluctuate each year depending on budget and student interest).
