Undergraduate Business Admissions Explained
The School of Business is the home to two bachelor of science programs: Business Administration and Actuarial Science.
IMPORTANT: The admission requirements are different for the two programs.
Business Administration Major / Pre-Business
First-time freshman applicants
Apply to UCR as a Pre-Business major under the UCR College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). Pre-Business majors are officially admitted to the Business Administration major in the School of Business once lower division admission criteria are met, generally between the second and third year.
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate Pre-Business under the UCR College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). IMPORTANT: On the application, Pre-Business is not located under the UCR School of Business.
Step 3: Submit your application
Transfer applicants
Apply to UCR as a Business Administration major under the UCR School of Business.
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate UCR Business Administration major under the UCR School of Business
Step 3: Submit your application
Actuarial Science
First-time freshman applicants
Apply to UCR as an Actuarial Science major under the UCR School of Business.
IMPORTANT: Actuarial Science major is not the same as the Business Administration/Pre-Business major (see left column).
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate Actuarial Science under the UCR School of Business
Step 3: Submit your application
Transfer applicants (beginning 2025)
Apply to UCR as an Actuarial Science major under the UCR School of Business. Transfers will be admitted in Fall of each year, starting in 2025.
IMPORTANT: The Actuarial Science major is not the same as the Business Administration major. See left column for information on admissions to the Business Administration/Pre-Business major.
